Last weekend's two-day event commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Sappington House restoration featured a reenactment of the 1808 wedding ceremony joining Thomas and Mary Ann Kinkead Sappington. Included in the bridal party are (from left) Emily Rapp, Katherine Kempf, Hope Johnson, Zoe Castro, Kendra Howard, Gracie Kaul (bride), John Wolbert (justice of the peace), Kurt Krautmann (groom), Thomas Hotaling and Ben Gossow.
The Sappingtons were the first couple to receive a St. Louis County marriage license. Those attending Saturday's event received free wedding cake! The historic Sappington House, 1015 Sappington Road in Crestwood, opened to the public 50 years ago.
